The Pomapoo (also known as a Pooranian, Pom A Poo, or Pompoo) is a cross between a Pomeranian and a Poodle. Poodle crossbreeds are meant to produce a dog with mixed traits and the Poodleís signature nonshedding coat. As a crossbreed, the Pomapoo is not eligible for registration with purebred registries such as the American Kennel Club, but it can be registered with the American Canine Hybrid Club, as ëPom A Pooí. The Pomapoo is not considered a purebred because it doesnít ëbreed trueí, meaning that it doesnít display a consistent set of characteristics. Like other ëdesigner breedsí, the Pomapoo has seen a recent surge in popularity. Some breeders produce Pomapoos by crossing a purebred Poodle with a purebred Pomeranian (called a first generation cross), but others allow crossing Pomapoos with Poodles or Pomeranians (called a backcross), or with other Pomapoos (called a multi-generation cross). Different crosses can result in different characteristics. Size The Pomapoo comes in a wide variety of sizes due to possible parentage by the Toy Poodle, Miniature Poodle, or Standard Poodle (though the latter is rare).
The Miniature Pomapoo is most common, with a shoulder height of 8-12 in (20-30 cm) and a weight of 3-14 lbs (1-6 kg). Pomapoos can have a long, narrow muzzle like the Poodle or a wedge shaped head like the Pomeranian. They can have straight ëPoodle tailsí or the Pomeranianís characteristic high-set tail, carried over the back. Most Pomapoos have medium sized, ëVí-shaped ears, short neck, and straight back. The Pomapoo is longer than it is tall. Coat The Pomapoo coat may be straight, curly, or anywhere in between, and may also vary from short to medium length. The Pomapoo may be a variety of colors including black, white, and brown (most common). Pomapoos of various coat texture, length, and color may be born in the same litter. The Pomapoo sheds little to none, like the Poodle. Character The Pomapoo is intelligent, energetic, playful, loving, and loyal. Pomapoos are very devoted to their family; some develop separation anxiety and bark when they sense their owners are leaving.
The Pomapoo craves attention, but if overly pampered it may become spoiled. Temperament The Pomapoo gets along very well with children. teacup yorkies for sale huntsville alYoung children should be supervised around the Pomapoo to ensure they treat it with respect. puppies for sale 44124Pomapoos are friendly with strangers, making poor watchdogs. puppies for sale owego nyPomapoos get along very well with other dogs. Socialization when young is recommended for the Pomapoo. Care The Pomapoo should be brushed daily to keep the coat knot and tangle free. Straight coats require less frequent brushing and trimming.
The Pomapoo has a lifespan of 10-15 years and an average litter of six puppies. Like other hybrids, Pomapoos tend to have fewer health problems than purebreds (known as ëhybrid vigorí). Potential health problems are luxating patella (dislocated knee), patent ductus arteriosus (a heart defect), collapsed trachea, and cataracts. Training The Pomapoo is intelligent and eager to please, making it easily trained. Positive reinforcement is best; harsh training methods will likely prove counterproductive. Activity The Pomapoo requires a moderate amount of exercise. It is fairly active indoors, but enjoys a daily walk or playtime outside. The Pomapoo is a good match for apartment life. Price: $950+ T0 1350+ & UPLocation: BAYSIDE, Queens, NY, NYThe Jug is rapidly establishing itself as the favorite breed, especially in countries such as Australia. They are a preferred breed as they have minimal health issues and have a good temperament.
The jug is a small and wonderful companion. He looks like a pug but has many unique qualities that have overcome all the disadvantages of having a pug. Pugs are lovely dogs but they possess some serious health problems. Attempts for making such combination – between a Jack Russell and a pug started way back in 1960. Soon, after many successful crosses, the Jug established its identity in the states of America, UK and Australia. They are now bred in substantially very large quantities in UK because of the increase in demand of these sweet little pups. An enthusiastic Jug club has been established in UK in welfare and promotion of these dogs. The following are the general and physical characteristics of jug: –• The Jug is a mix breed and is a result of cross between the Jack Russell and the Pug. Therefore, it contains 50% characteristics from its mother – the Jack Russell and 50% characteristics from its father – the Pug. These dogs can be back crossed as well. • A Jug will bear a coat which will be either Black or Tan in color.
A rich red colored coat is more common in Jugs. • They have short coats which are soft and smooth to touch. • They have an average height of 26 to 26 cm. • They weigh about 12 to 18 pounds. • Jugs have an average lifespan of 12 to 15 years. These dogs are best trained with the Rewarding method. They are very shy and will not harm back if you treat them harshly. However, never treat your dogs with a rash behavior. They have an energy level that is much lower than its parent, the Jack Russell but will have a substantially higher energy than the Pug. Unlike the Jack Russell, their hunting instincts are weakened because of traits from Pug. Hence, these dogs prove to be good family dogs that are best suited for average sized apartments. These dogs love to go for outing and are family lovers. They are loving, adorable and wonderful companions. They will get along with kids very easily and this is yet another reason for their popularity. They will never harm other kids as they are themselves very shy.
They have the least potential to fight back when they are teased or annoyed. However, do remember that they have genes of the mighty Jack Russell, so never keep your children, especially infants and toddlers, totally unsupervised with these dogs. They are fearless and can be kept as watch dogs for alarming purpose. They can even chase small animals like cats, rabbits and puppies. Jugs have a robust nature as well.Jug requires an average diet. Their meal shouldn’t be very heavy, neither too light. Various brands for dry dog foods are available for your jug. Brands which sell premium quality dry dog food that will suit your Jug needs are Acana, Dr. Tim, Purina, Hills and Pedigree dog food. Choose a dog food and the dog food product according to age, illness, and weight and health conditions of your dog. Elders and puppies will have different nutritional requirements compared to adults. Try Acana Senior dry dog food and Acana food for puppies for senior dogs and pups, respectively.• Protein Sources :- Turkey, lamb, lean chicken , veal or fish (which can be tuna or Mackerel)
• Vegetables :- Broccoli, potatoes, sweet potatoes, string beans, carrots and cauliflower• Carbohydrate sources :- Rice (either white or brown)• Vitamin and mineral supplements :- Vitamin A, Vitamin B- complex, Vitamin C, Folic acid, riboflavin, ascorbic acid and minerals such as calcium, selenium, iron, zinc and copper. Always keep in mind that, human food is never good for a dog’s health, howsoever he may be healthy. Human food will affect your Jug, although the symptoms of onset of disease may appear very late, depending on the quantity and duration of feed. The best thing about Jug is that they can be affected by minimum number of diseases. A mere 15 to 20 minutes’ walk every day shall keep your Jugs fit and fine. However, your Jug can occasionally encounter diseases such as Hip and Elbow dysplasia, Arthritis and other Ophthalmic and Heart diseases. Jugs are really not allergic. They do not develop an exaggerated hypersensitive reaction when they are exposed to chemicals and other allergens.
Jugs should be immunized at regular intervals so that they are protected from various diseases caused by dangerous viruses. Some mandatory vaccines includes: – Parvovirus, Rabies, Distemper, Coronavirus, Hepatitis A and B, Influenza and Parainfluenza vaccines. Make sure you take them to a registered vet for annual boosters of these vaccines so that their effect does not diminish with time. The Jugs have short coats and therefore it is very easy to maintain such coats. You can easily brush their coat with a static glove or a very small brush – like a baby hair brush. Static gloves will help to remove any loose hair that may be present on their coat. Their coats can get dried up rapidly and hence bathe your jug only once a month or when they are exposed to heavy dirt. A Jug may have long hair, if their parent breed, the Jack Russell, possessed long hairs. This will require more frequent grooming than normal jugs. This dog breed is partially recognized. However, this is a very popular breed and hundreds of crosses are encountered every year in many countries.
