Together with his co-veterinarian partner Dr Jerry Hawson they operate the Pet Bureau Veterinary Clinic in Quezon City. He owned different breeds, such as Siberian Huskies, Irish Setters, Miniature Pinschers, Golden Retrievers, Dobermans, Beagles, Whippets, Shih Tzu and all varieties of Dachshunds. He has bred and/or owned Champions, Grand Champions and Hall of Fame title holders including Best in Show winners.
He was a founding member of the Beagle Fancier Club of the Philippines, Inc. where he served as President. In addition, he also served as the President of the Sporting Dog Club of the Philippines and the Hound Group Club. Dr. Cheng is an the Chairman of the Judges’ Development & Licensing Committee. He has judged extensively around the Philippines as well as Malaysia, Myanmar & Korea.Edgardo Cruz – All Breeds JudgeEdgardo Cruz has lived with dogs all his life owning Doberman Pinschers, German Shepherd Dogs, Dachshunds, Whippets and Miniature Pinschers. He bred Doberman Pinschers under the kennel name Del Fuego and co-owned numerous champions including the famous Doberman bitch Ch Queida Paloma Flamiante who was BOS at the Doberman Pinscher Club of the Philippines Nationals. He is a life member of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of the Philippines. He served as past president of the Philippine Canine Club, Inc in 2001 & 2005 before joining AKCUPI to serve as its Vice President and Chairman of the Affiliated Clubs Committee.
He is also a member of AKCUPI’s judge licensing committee.He has adjudicated in international all-breed dog shows in the Philippines, Spain, Japan, Russia, Korea and Malaysia. Ed earned an A.B. degree major in Psychology from the Ateneo de Manila University. He is an accomplished businessman. For thirty years, he has been a Charter Member and past President of the Rotary Club of Greenhills.Edgard Gacula – Toy, Non Sporting & HerdingMr. Edgard Gacula is a graduate of B.S. Criminology at the Northwestern University in Ilocos Norte. Though he didn’t pursue a career in this field, Mr. Gacula focused his sight on another endeavor: dog training. For over three decades, Mr. Gacula had been a successful dog trainer and show handler. He exhibited English Bulldogs, Shih Tzus, and German Shepherd Dogs. He served as President of the K-9 Traconphil Handlers Association of the Philippines and is one of the founding members and officer of the Canine Handlers Association of the Philippines (CHATAP).
Mr Gacula has judged extensively all over the Philippines as well as judged an all breed match in Hong Kong.Mike Buenaflor – All Breeds JudgeMr Mike Buenaflor hails from Southern Philippines, a resident of Ilo-Ilo he was an active member of the Western Visayas German Shepherd Club. A passionate GSD aficionado, he is a licensed ring steward for Seiger & All breed shows.He has been involved in the canine world for more than two decades, breeding and exhibiting Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Boxers, Labradors, St.Bernards ,English and Neopolitan Mastiffs, as well as Anatolian and German Shepherds Dogs.He is also a certified Dog Rescuer trained by the International Fund for Animal Welfare. Currently he is the shelter manager and a disaster rescue officer for the Network for Animals, an animal welfare group based in the U.K. His judging took him all over the Philippines and well as Malaysia & Korea.Joseph A. Ongchuan – All Breed judgeMr. Joseph Ongchuan started with dogs in 1963.
During the early 60’s and 70’s he was known for breeding and exhibiting Doberman Pinchers. Aside from Dobermans he was involved with different breeds, notably Boxers, Great Dane, Pekingese, Lhasa Apso, Irish Setter, Shih Tzu, German Shepherd Dogs, Chuhuahuas and Collies.In the late 70’s to 80’s our he got involved with breeding Saint Bernards, and imported breeding stock from the United States. From 90’s to the present, he built a reputation of being one of the pioneers of introducing the “modern” American Cocker Spaniels into the Philippines. Together with his wife Esperanza and son Jester this family became well known figures in the dog world and were instrumental in upgrading the quality the local ASC under the St Joe’s banner. Being a top ASC groomer, Mr Ongchuan shared what he knew with ASC fanciers here & abroad and exported his dogs to Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and the USA. He has bred over 50 ASC Champions and was awarded the Philippines’ Top Breeder of the Year.
He founded the American Cocker Spaniel Club of the Philippines in 1992 where he served as Treasurer, President and Chairman of the Board. At present, he is the club’s adviser.He has judged several shows in the Philippines and was honored to judge the Best in Show Competition during the Sporting Dog Club of the Philippines National Group show. He has also judged in Korea, Myanmar & Malaysia.Fe Lanny Alegado – Working, Hound, Non Sporting, Terrier, Sporting & Herding Group judge. Ms Fe Lanny Alegado graduated from Jose Rizal University with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Secretarial Management. She became Jose Rizal Univertisty’s Campus Queen in 1985 and on the same year was qualified to compete in the Bb Pilipinas beauty pagent. She worked as a professional singer and commercial model after college.She started breeding dogs in 1995 and had been bitten by the show fever. Together with her partner in life, Atty Jose Agaton Sibal, their Phoenix kennel became the home of some of the most beautiful German Shepherd Dogs in the Philippines with imports mainly from the Top kennels in Germany & Europe.
Ms. Alegado is a life member of the German Shepherd Dog Federation of the Philippines where she once served as their Corporate Secretary. She is also a past Director of the Philippine Canine Club, Inc. Today she has added small breeds to her canine family like Chihuahua, Yorkshire Terriers, Boston Terriers and Jack Russel Terriers. She has judged extensively throughout the Philippines.Jester Joe Ongchuan – All Breed JudgeMr Jester Ongchuan lived with dogs from the day he was born. Being the son of Mr Joseph Ongchuan, AKCUPI’s most senior judge, Jester had been exposed to the canine world at a very young age. He grew up with St Bernards, Shih-Tzu, Collies, American Cocker Spaniels and German Shepherd Dogs around him. The Ongchuan family made a name for themselves as top breeders & exhibitors of American Cocker Spaniels in the Philippines under the kennel name, ST JOE’s successfully finishing over 50 American Cocker Spaniel Champions. Currently Mr. Jester Ongchuan added Chihuahuas and Siberian Huskies into his kennel which he campaigned to their Championship titles.
He became one of the youngest members of the Board of the American Cocker Spaniel Club of the Philippines (ACSCP), at an early age of 16, He was also elected as Asst Secretary of the ACSCP, then later on held the positions of Corporate Secretary and President as well. He founded the Metropolitan Manila Kennel Club Inc. where he serves as its President and Chairman of the Board.As a license All Breed judge, he has officiated at shows throughout the Philippines and International dog shows in Peoples Republic of China, South Korea, Union of Myanmar, Malaysia and Hong Kong.Outside the dog world Mr. Jester Ongchuan is the current Academic Program Coordinator of Moderne Culinaire Academy. He is a University Lecturer of Hospitality, Tourism and Business Management in various University and Colleges in Manila. Currently taking his Master’s degree in Business Management at San Beda Graduate School of Business. Lastly he is a known young entrepreneur and was elected to serve in barangay council of the City of Manila.
